The Cincinnati Bengals made several roster moves on Saturday.
Veteran CB Fred Bennett was released. A fifth-year NFL player, Bennett joined the Bengals for the last five games of 2010. If the team turns in the transaction to the NFL’s personnel office by 4:00 pm ET, he’ll be free to sign with another team at that time.
The Bengals also waived third-year S Tom Nelson, fourth-year QB Jordan Palmer and first-year CB LeRoy Vann.
Nelson played in 20 Bengals games with three starts after signing as a college free agent in 2009. Palmer started his career as a sixth-round draft choice of Washington in 2007 and joined the Bengals as a free agent in 2008. He was in uniform for every Bengals game from 2008-10 and played in four contests. Vann, who has no career NFL games played, signed with the Bengals as a free agent this past Aug. 17.
The team also waived two rookies -- LB Stephen Franklin and WR Jamere Holland. Both signed as college free agents following the 2011 draft.
With Palmer gone, Bengals are now down to just three quarterbacks on the roster. Veteran QB Carson Palmer remains on the reserve/did not report list.
